Emission of π0 and eta0 mesons in π+ + Xe interactions at 2.34 GeV/c and the problem of the existence of π mesons inside the nucleus

  • 1. Uniwersytet Jagiellonski, Krakow (Poland). Instytut Fizyki

Description

In this paper are presented the results of the investigation of the angular and energy distributions of π0 and eta0 mesons from the reactions π+ + Xe at 2.34 GeV/c in which no more than four charged secondary particles and two gamma quanta are emitted. A considerable collimation of the emission of π0 mesons is found in the region of small values of emission angles. Such a collimation corresponds to the π+ production in collisions of incident π+ mesons with intranuclear particles possessing masses of the order of 100 MeV
