Evaluation of fluctuation effects of neutron widths and energy-level density in calculation of group cross section functionals

Description
Influence of neutron width and energy level density fluctuations in resonance elastic scattering cross sections are considered in transmission and self-shielding calculation. By the Monte Carlo method errors of using average resonance parameters are evaluated. The fluctuation effects are shown to become insignificant an the case of a great number of resonances being averaged. The application of neutron widths averaged in distributions and energy level densities of resonance parameters is most justified in the range of unresolved resonances where fluctuation effects are small
