Photolysis of uracil and uridine in the presence of lunar soil

Description

The material obtained in partially simulated physical conditions of moon surface shows that moon ground is not inert in the process of uracil and uridine photolysis. It reveals catalytic effect relatively to photochemical decomposition of investigated pyrimidine derivatives. The data obtained permit to conclude that exceedingly low content of organic matter in moon rocks and moon dust is conditioned, in particular, by its decomposition under the effect of UV Solar radiation and regolith catalytic effect. It can be supposed that purines, pyrimidines and carbons synthesized in space or on the moon surface are subjected to considerable photochemical transformations. It is supposed that identic prebiological reactions could proceed some time ago on the moon surface and play a certair role in the disappearance of organic substance from moon surface. Beside, these photolysis reactions can be considered as an approximated model of chemical processes which could probably take place not only on moon lithosphere but on the primary Earth as well which is important for understanding origin of life on earth
