A new zero energy mode in supersymmetry at finite temperature

  • 1. Alberta Univ., Edmonton (Canada). Theoretical Physics Inst.

Description

It is pointed out that, in supersymmetry at finite temperature, the usual condition of the spontaneous breakdown of symmetry (i.e. the non-vanishing thermal average of a certain field in a multiplet) does not necessarily lead to the existence of a massless fermion. The particle-thermal hole pair of opposite statistics can replace the long range correlation of the Goldstone mode. (orig.)
