Description

For the preparation of the pure, single-phase superconducting compounds Bi2(Sr, Ca)2CuO6 (2201-phase), Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (2212-phase) and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (2223-phase) the knowledge of the corresponding phase equilibria in the quasiquarternary system Bi2O3-SrO-CaO-CuO is important. In addition, the compositional extension of the single-phase regions of these compounds and the phases coexisting with their different composition may play a key role in optimizing the superconducting properties, such as Tc and Jc. We studied the phase equilibria between the superconducting and associated phases at temperatures of 750deg C, 800deg C and 850deg C in air as well as the extension of the single-phase regions of the superconducting phase within the system at 850deg C in air.
