Conventional MR images of brain and spine regarding vessel pathology

  • 1. Medical University, Sofia (Bulgaria)

Description

MR imaging makes its way into the clinical practice in Bulgaria. Unfortunately a significant part of the equipment is old and can not perform certain specific vessel procedures (magnetic resonance angiography - MRA). The conventional MR images have different sensitivity with regard of the blood flow. The good knowledge of the physical base of the methods and the pathological changes of brain and spine vessels allow the determination of an adequate pulse sequence on order to obtain maximum information about the condition of the blood vessels, without MRI procedures. The authors share their experience in the conventional MR image interpretation for a wide spectrum of brain and spinal cord diseases with regard of the changes in the blood vessels and their blood supply or drainage
