About electric polarization of inhomogeneous superfluid systems

  • 1. Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering, Kharkiv (Ukraine)

Description

The problem of electric polarization of superfluid systems caused by their inhomogeneity is studied by using the model of rarefied electron-hole gas which was studied by the authors. Microscopical calculation of the polarization of quantized vortices is made with and without external magnetic field. In magnetic field the vortices acquire an additional polarization, resulting in the appearance of a quantized charge in the vortice cores. It is shown that the Van der Waals interaction of the superfluid system with a solid surface leads to appearance of polarization in the vicinity of the surface. It is found that the results obtained allow a possible polarization of the medium on its irregular motion to be predicted.
