Elastic scattering of 40Ar on 40Ca at E(LAB)=191,236 and 272 MeV

Description

Cross sections for elastic scattering of 40Ar on 40Ca have been measured at energies of E(LAB)=191,236 and 272 MeV with the help of kinematical coincidences. The experimental elastic scattering data were compared with Fresnel and optical models. The generalized Fresnel model describes the experimental data well. The optical model analysis yields an energy independent parameter set (V(R)=-21.76 MeV, r(oR)=1.37fm, a(R)=0.45fm; W(i)=-13.69MeV, r(oi)=1.40fm, a(i)=0.36fm). The corresponding values for the reaction cross sections for the three energies are in good agreement with those found in the generalised Fresnel model. Microscopic calculations with the Krappe - Nix potential do not describe the data, while the Fleckner - Mosel potential as well as the proximity potential reproduce the data over several orders of magnitude

Abstract (Afrikaans)

Deursnee vir elastiese verstrooiing van 40Ar op 40Ca is met behulp van kinematiese koinsidensie by energiee E(LAB)=191,236 en 272 MeV gemeet. Die eksperimentele gegewens van elastiese verstrooiing is met Fresnel- en optiese modelle vergelyk. Die veralgemeende Fresnelmodel beskryf die eksperimentele gegewens goed. Die ontleding van die optiese model lewer 'n energie-onafhanklike parameterstel (V(R)=-21.76 MeV, r(oR)=1.37fm, a(R)=0.45fm; W(i)=-13.69 MeV, r(oi)=1.40fm, a(i)=0.36fm). Die ooreenstemmende waardes vir die reaksie-deursnee vir die drie energiee stem goed ooreen met die wat vir die veralgemeende Fresnel-model gevind is. Mikroskopiese berekenings met die Krappe-Nixpotensiaal beskryf nie die gegewens nie, terwyl die Fleckner-Moselpotentiaal asook die nabyheidspotensiaal die gegewens oor etlike grootte-ordes reproduseer
