Description
Radiation hormesis is a new concept for radiation biology. The concept is that low-dose irradiation stimulates bio-functions. A phenomenon in which low-dose irradiation stimulates mitogen-induced proliferation of human t-cell in vitro experiments has been reported. To elucidate the hormetic effect on the immune system, in vivo, by low-dose whole-body X-ray irradiation, radiation effects on the proliferative responses induced by various mitogens and IL-1 production of mouse splenocytes were studied.
