Geometry Correction Factors for Rectangular Neutron Devices

  • 1. Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology, 179, Hoang Quoc Viet st., Hanoi (Viet Nam)

Description

In order to calibrate a neutron measurement device, methods described in the ISO 8259-2 standard implies the geometry correction applied to the device reading. However, regarding the non-spherical device (i.e. rectangular devices), the ISO 8529-2 gives only a guidance that the distance should be greater than twice the diameter of the device. In this work, the geometry correction factors for rectangular devices were simulated by the MCNP6 code. The Ludlum 41-42L neutron device was then calibrated using these calculated geometry correction factors.
