Construction of PWR plants. Primary equipments

The primary equipments of ordinary PWR reactors include: the vessel, the internal equipments, the reactivity control devices, the steam generators, the primary pipes, the primary pumps, the pressurizer and the pressure adjustment and overpressure protection devices. Makers of primary equipments have adopted similar designs, thus this article is limited to the description of realizations and practices of the French industry. However, the most noticeable differences that can be found abroad are mentioned. (J.S.)
