Diffusion in crystalline solids
Description
The development in the area of diffusion in pure metal and concentrated metal alloys during the previous 10 years is outlined. The diffusion of atoms in solid crystalline materials plays an important role in different technical processes and occurs due to spaces in the crystal lattice. The studying of this diffusion therefore is one of the possibilities of gaining information regarding the behaviour of these lattice defects. The use of radioactive isotopes that function as tracers is an important aid for this. (C.F.)
