Separate determination of 89Sr and 90Sr after isolation from mixture of fission products

Description

Rapid technique to determine 89Sr and 90Sr according to absorption of beta-radiation of the investigated specimens by aluminium filter of ∼70 mg/cm2 thickness is suggested. Strontium nuclides are separated using oxalate-nitrate technique. Two beta-spectra, that is: with half-thickness layer equal to 18 mg/cm2 for 90Sr and to 79 mg/cm2 for 89Sr-are used for absorption spectra analysis. The suggested technique allows to determine concentration of 89Sr and 90Sr in environmental bodies within 1-2 Bq/kg at low-back-ground beta-radiometer and 30 Bq/kg using beta-radiometer with SI8B counter at analysis error maximum 50%
