Role of shell effects in fission of nuclei by fast protons
Creators
- 1. Leningrad Institute of Nuclear Physics, USSR Academy of Sciences
Description
Analysis of the fission cross sections and of the mass distributions of fission products in fission induced by fast particles shows that fission of nuclei in the Pb region and also of lighter nuclei occurs at such high excitation energies that shell effects disappear, and the statistical approach is valid for its description
