Studies on metabolic pathways and toxicology of two organo chlorine pesticides: 14 C - pentachloronitrobenzene and 14 C- pentachlorophenol in the rat

Description

The metabolic fate of 14 C-pentachloronitribenzene in the rat has been investigated. 1- following a single oral dose radioactive pentachloronitrobenzene ( 181 mg/kg), the radioactivity recovered from urine and faces after one day accounted for 17.6% and 4.8% of the administered dose, respectively. 2- following a single oral dose of 348 mg/kg 14C - pentachloronitrobenzene, the total radioactivity recovered from urine after eight days accounted for 32% of the administered dose, half of the dose (16%) has been eliminated after one day. the total 14C-activity recovered from the faces collected over the eight days accounted for 68%. 3- for separation and identification of metabolites, thin layer chromatography has been used. five 14C-labelled metabolites have been separated in urine as well as the parent compound. the metabolites were : pentachloroaniline (1.3%), pentachlorophenol (o.6%), pentachlorothiphenol (0.8%), pentachloroanisole(4.7%) and pentachlorothioanisol (5.5%) and the parent compound(0.6%)
