US supply and demand outlook for the US natural gas industry

Creators

Description

1993 will be known as the year that proved the theory that natural gas supplies respond to US market signals in three ways. Firstly, US and Canadian gas production responded to price increases. Secondly, Canadian imports responded by increasing 6 percent for the first six months of this year versus 1992, up 1.5 Bcfd. Thirdly, US gas drilling activity responded. The author discusses the price triggers which resulted in this supply surge. Data are presented on trends in pipeline construction projects which will increase capacity
