Inhomogeneous distribution of radon daughter products and its effect on the quality factor

Description

Conventional radon risk assessments are based on the assumption that the daughters are homogeneously distributed along the airways, which are cylindrical and infinitely long. However, experimental observations as well as modelling predictions demonstrate that actually, deposition of the inhaled aerosols in the tracheobronchial tree is highly non-uniform. The inhomogeneous deposition can lead to appreciable heterogeneities of activity distribution along the bronchial airway surfaces. The objective of the present study was to quantify the effects of the non-uniform distributions
