Description

The changes in the acid-base properties of titanium(4), zirconium(4), iron(3), chromium(3), and indium(3) oxoxydroxide hydrogels were studied during their aging in sodium chloride and sulfate solutions by the method of zero point of charge. Due to aging of the hydrogen, their basic properties decrease much more strongly in a solution of the sulfate electrolyte than in the chloride solutions. The most changes were observed in the region of high pH of the zero point of charge of the hydrogels. The changes in the acid-base properties can be explained by a decrease in the content of the surface OH groups, which are displaced by the supporting electrolyte ions, and due to the oxidation of the hydrogels
