Hydrogen trapping in helium-implanted W and W-Ta alloy: First-principles approach

Description
Highlights: • Investigating the stability and interactions of H with He in pure W and W-Ta alloy. • The He- and H- related defects in W-Ta alloy are more energetically favorable than pure W. • 1 He-Vac complex in W-Ta alloy can trap as many as 12 H atoms, although H saturation occurs as the H number reaches 7 and 9. • H3-He-Vac is the most favorable in both systems.
