In the last few years there has been a new upsurge of activities on Hartee-Fock (HF) calculations in nuclei. On the one hand, the use of a density-dependent two-nucleon effective interaction had made computations feasible on large spherical nuclei, on static shapes of large deformed nuclei, and on the constrained static HF problem for a fissioning nucleus, while on the other, entirely new developments have taken place starting with the old formulation of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) theory and designing it primarily for application to the large-amplitude collective motions in nuclei, e.g. collision of two heavy ions, and the dynamics of fission. Although initial applications of the theory were confined to the one-dimensional problem of collision of one nuclear slab on another very soon realistic computations were done by several groups of workers on actual heavy-ion heavy-ion collision processes. Once again it is the density-dependent two-nucleon interaction that made the detailed computations practicable
