Deposition of radioactive cesium-137 on buildings

Description
Nuclear industry is a still growing branch of industry, and the number of nuclear installations is increasing, covering the country with a network of nuclear power stations and reprocessing facilities. The result is an increasing input of radioactive material to the environment. Through accidents or incidents in a nuclear installation, cesium-137 for instance is released to the atmosphere and subsequently deposits on the walls and roofs buildings. (orig./HP)

Die Atomtechnik breitet sich mit ihren Atomkraftwerken und ihren Wiederaufarbeitungsanlagen immer mehr aus. Die Folge ist, dass die Umwelt zunehmend mit radioaktiven Stoffen belastet wird. So gelangt z.B. das radioaktive Caesium-137 durch Unfaelle oder 'Stoerfaelle' in Atomanlagen in die Aussenluft. Von da aus setzt es sich dann unter anderem an den Waenden und Daechern fest.
