Complex formation of a novel perylenediimide derivative with organic solvents

  • 1. Integrated Science Education and Research Centre, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan (India)

Description

Perylenediimide derivatives are very popular as non-fullerene organic acceptors used in solution processed organic photovoltaics. A novel N-substituted perylenediimide molecule is synthesized and its photophysical properties are investigated in various solvents by UV-visible spectroscopic techniques. In acetone and cyclopentanone, a solute-solvent complex is observed in the ground state, which is emissive in nature upon photoexcitation. The binding constant and stoichiometry of the complex have been calculated by using Benesi-Hildebrand method. (author)
