Description

The novel coronavirus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)), which originated in China, has caused a worldwide pandemic [1]. The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is referred to as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). During the pandemic and probably beyond, radiologists performing CT examinations of patients with symptoms of a respiratory infection will inevitably be asked if it could be a case of COVID-19 pneumonia. On the other hand, if a chest CT performed for another indication yields abnormal results, the radiologist must consider the possibility of incidental COVID-19 pneumonia, communicate this to the referring physician as quickly as possible, and introduce the appropriate hygiene measures in his/her own department.
