Determination of the distance of the sun from the center of the galaxy deduced from the rotation curve
Description
This paper determines the distance R0 to the rotation center of the field of circular velocities of OH clouds in the plane of the Galaxy. The radial velocities of the clouds are the data of the surveys at the frequencies 1665 and 1667 MHz. The distances of the clouds from the Sun are determined from the way that the parameters of the hydroxyl radio absorption lines depend on the helicentric distance. From comparison of the behavior of the circular velocities of the clouds in the central regions of the Galaxy with the results of numerical simulation of the rotation curve the value R0 = 8.2 + or - /sup 0.9//sub 0.7/ kpc is obtained. Rotation curves for the Galaxy for two galactocentric quadrents are given and they agree well with results obtained by a different method using neutral hydrogen
