Diffusion in uranium-zirconium and uranium-titanium alloys

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst., Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Coefficients of mutual diffusion (D) in bcc lattice of the uranium-titanium system at the temperature of 900-1100 deg C are determined. It is shown that D in the uranium-titanium alloys is dependent in a sufficient degree on their concentration and their temperature dependences are of linear character. Such a behaviour is linked with peculiarities of concentration behaviour of thermodynamical properties of alloys. It is indicated by example of the uranium-zirconium system that loss of thermodynamical stability of alloys similar by composition to equiatomic ones results in the coefficient decrease as well as in activation energy of mutual diffusion. The higher negative values of partial free energy of admixture components correspond to higher coefficients of mutual diffusion
