Activation analysis by gamma photons and charged particles
Description
Neutron irradiation is generally used for activation analysis, however there are two cases where gamma radiation or charged particle activation are required: determination of elements when radioactivity produced is too low (case of light elements: O, C, N, B...) and determination of elements highly radioactive when irradiated by neutrons. Accuracy, sensitivity, calibration, sample preparation, applications and performance are reviewed

L'activation neutronique ne permettant pas de resoudre tous les problemes d'analyse, il faut avoir recours a l'activation dans les photons γ ou dans les particules chargees dans deux cas: - le dosage d'elements pour lesquels l'activation neutronique ne conduit pas a une radioactivite detectable (cas des elements legers: O, C, N, B...), - le dosage d'elements dans un materiau que l'irradiation neutronique rend fortement radioactif.
