Description

An open ended device with a non-planar magnetic axis of which the torsional angle can be changed easily is described. A wave-form analyzer using a micro-computer is used to investigate an oscillation of the magnetic field produced by the longitudinal current. This oscillation is estimated to be a standing Alfven wave. This wave may be partly reflected and partly transmitted through an inflection point of magnetic field lines depending on the torsional angle. (author)
