This conference was devoted to a review of the current state of the North American petroleum and natural gas liquids industry. The impact of current prices on major North American offshore oil production, bitumen and heavy oil production, developments in the natural gas liquids (NGLs) business, technology development, capital markets, environmental challenges that force the industry to adopt a defensive position, petroleum products refining, and new developments in heavy oil and oil sands transportation, inclusive of slurry pipeline developments, were the principal areas that received attention. tabs., figs
