Description
The H- ion related research at Ecole Polytechnique involves different aspects and techniques, which will be discussed in several papers at this Workshop [1-8]. The present paper is dedicated to the description of the H- hybrid multicusp source, of the photodetachment technique modified for the measurement of axial profiles of negative ion density, and to the discussion of the effect of the plasma electrode in optimizing the extracted negative ion current and reducing the extracted electron current
