Nuclear physical aspects of radiation damage in solids

Description
The interaction of a neutron with an atom in the solid is governed by the laws of nuclear physics. Thus the primary event is basically different from the other processes during cascade formation. The present work deals with four subjects in the light of nuclear physics: a) cross sections for neutron scattering b) formation of hydrogen and helium c) radiation damage by thermal neutrons d) dependency of radiation defects on neutron flux. Finally, possible measurement tasks for neutron spectroscopy are outlined. (orig.)

Fuer den Stoss eines Neutrons mit einem Festkoerperatom sind kernphysikalische Gestzmaessigkeiten massgebend. Das Primaerereignis unterscheidet sich insofern grundlegend von den weiteren Vorgaengen bei der Ausbildung der Stosskaskade. Die Arbeit behandelt vier Themenkreise aus der Sicht der Kernphysik: a) die Wirkungsquerschnitte fuer die Neutronenstreuung b) die Produktion von Wasserstoff und Helium c) die Strahlenschaedigung durch thermische Neutronen d) die Neutronenfluss-Abhaengigkeit von Strahlenschaeden. Abschliessend werden moegliche Messaufgaben fuer die Neutronenspektrometrie umrissen. (orig.)
