New approach for describing the response parameters of the charge preamplifier

Analytical expressions and experimental results for the characterization of the response parameters of the charge preamplifier are described. These parameters are studied in three connection methods between the detector and the preamplifier. The advantage of a modified AC coupling method is presented. The role and the influence of the preamplifier and the detector circuits, especially the detector capacitance, on the response parameters is also taken into consideration. (author)
