Description
The equilibrium charge distributions for boron ions after interacting with a thin carbon foil has been measured for incident energies between 2 and 7 MeV. An empirical formula derived from an original proposal of Nikolaev and Dmitriev (1968) has been used to predict the measurements and those of other authors. Using the beam-foil method, the energy of 3 MeV has been selected to continue studies of doubly excited states in B III. Eight new transitions have been observed in the spectral region of 300 and 1 400 angstroems. (Auth.)
