Highlands in front line of Britain's energy problems

A short review of the Energy in the 90's conference is presented. The future of electricity production in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland is discussed, in particular the 22kW aerogenerator to be installed on South Ronaldsay and the possibility of the building of a commercial fast reactor. It was suggested that nuclear power is part of the answer to rising prices in energy costs. According to EdF figures nuclear electricity prices have risen only 14% in 1979 compared with 24% for coal and 65% for oil. (U.K.)
