A Programme for Determining the 10000 Hour Rupture Strengths of Candidate High Temperature Alloys
Description
A programme for determining the 10000 hour rupture strengths of several candidate IHX, duct and reformer tube alloys is described. The strengths will be determined in simulated HTR helium and in air, in the temperature range 800 to 1000°C (excluding air at 1000°C), using at least four specimens to allow interpolation. To obtain the required stress ranges, specimens with different gauge diameters within the ranges allowed by ASTM standards will be used. The implementation of the programme takes into account the practical limitations on the capacity of the CIIR rig and the significant differences already noted for some alloys between manufacturers' air data and data generated by HTMP.
