Quality assessment of aluminothermic weldings of rails applying radioisotopes

Description
Proceeding from various gamma radiographic tests of aluminothermic weldings a model for calculating the test sensitivity is presented. Investigations of the necessary sample size have shown that the relatively small production rate of individual welding teams requires a high number of tests if a real quality assessment is to be made. The results obtained are applicable to any nondestructive tests
