Microscopic cluster models versus symplectic and shell models
Description
The quadrupole and monopole strength of 16O, 20Ne, and 24Mg is used to discuss the range of applicability of microscopic cluster models. The usefulness of a cluster-symplectic mixed basis is emphasized. The shell model is reformulated in order to lay a foundation of the cluster model. (author)
