Neutron beam dosimetry using ionization chambers. II

  • 1. Ceskoslovenska Akademie Ved, Prague. Ustav Dozimetrie Zareni

Description

Neutron beams accompanied with gamma radiation were measured using a pair of ionization chambers, one of tissue-equivalent material, one of aluminium. The experiments were conducted on beams from 252Cf, reactor IBR 30, neutron generator NAZ and cyclotron U 120. The measured current values were corrected for beam attenuation in the wall and expressed as kerma in tissue due to gamma and neutron radiations. The results show that ionization chambers yield results in good agreement with data obtained by track detectors or thermoluminescence detectors. Ionization chambers allow straightforward determination of kerma or absorbed dose at a given point. (J.P.)
