On the usage of laser-plasma anode in the ion diodes with magnetic insulation

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Presented are investigation results of possibility of intense ion beam obtaining from laser plasma in the ion diode with magnetic electron insulation (DMI). DMI investigation has been carried out by measuring its current characteristics, accelerating high-voltage pulse parameters and neutron yield from a deuterium-containing target at different values of of the insulating magnetic field B and laser pulse energy Esub(e). Qualitative interpretation of the obtained dependences of the neutron yield on B and Esub(e) is given. The investigation has shown prospects of laser-plasma anode application in DMI and possibility of obtaining ion currents > or appriximately 1 kA with > or approximately 100 A/cm2 density by means of such anodes
