On spin state of nickel (3) atoms in solid solutions LaSrNixAl1-xO4

Description
Existence of low- and high-spin nickel (3) atoms is established based on data on temperature (in the 80-400 K temperature range) and concentration dependence of magnetic susceptibility of LaSrNixAl1-xO4 solid solutions (0.005 < x < 0.15), the ratio of low-spin atoms decreasing at x growth. A model of diluted solid solution is suggested. Based on thi s model one managed to describe the anomalous course of the concentration dependence of magnetic susceptibility of the solutions and to calculate the exchange parameters in high-spin dimers and dimers with a mixed spin
