Use of radiowave method for assessment and prediction of the stability of NPP objects constructed in karst development zones

Description

The methods and procedure of field works, when searching and surveying underground geologic hetergeneities by the radiowave method (RWM), are stated. Problems on using the given method at operating NPPs to assess an predict the stability of separate power unit bases an foundations constructed on slackening grounds are considered. The results of full-scale simulation of the radiowave method, data control obtained during hole boring and application of other methods are presented; high reliability of the investigation results of grounds by RWM is shown. To assess stability of NPP installations one suggests to carry out ground and underground control by RWM as well as by automatic geodesic devices. The conclusion on adviability of RWM application, when NPP designing and operation, is made and proved; it permits to increase essentially security of works in NPP construction
