Development and review of severe accident management guidelines by linking the simulator model with the EPG/SAMG flowcharts
Description
Leibstadt NPP is a BWR 6/238 Mark III with a reactor power of 3600 MW and gross generator power of 1220 MW. The existing EPG were complemented by SAMG in 2004. The EPG/SAG of the BWROG was adopted to KKL by considering plant specific and organisational details. This development was supported by use of an interactive simulation of core melt sequence (MELSIM). Especially for the review of the new guidelines, the EPG/SAMG flowcharts were linked to the MELSIM model to activate operator actions according to the procedures. This allows an intensive parametric study of different sequences in a short time. By this method, some essential improvements and insights were found and the SAMG including the flowcharts were updated accordingly. The combination of core melt simulation of guidelines built an useful tool also for training and emergency exercise. This was confirmed by the authority at the official validation exercise in November 2004. (authors)
