Description

The electrochemical cell with solid electrolytes -Mo/In(l),In2O3(s)/ZrO2, CaO/air, Pt/Pt, air/CaO, ZrO2/In-Cu(l), In2O3(s)/Mo+ was used to measure the activity of indium in liquid Cu-In alloys at nine concentrations in the temperature range from 1020 to 1389 K. The procedure was checked by determining the enthalpy of formation of indium oxide In2O3. Combining the present results with those obtained by direct calorimetry, thermodynamically consistent values were proposed for the free energy, entropy, enthalpy and heat capacity of liquid Cu-In alloys.
