Distribution of star clusters in the Small Magellanic Cloud

Description

The recently enlarged sampling of star clusters in the Small Magellanic Cloud (S MC) is examined to deduce the geometrical properties of the cluster system. A conspicuous central nonuniformity, a general, roughly elliptical main body of clusters, and an extension toward the SMC wing are found. The radial distribution of the clusters shows an exponential decrease with a gradient similar to that for the brightest stars.
