Description

The author has produced some years ago a theory of relativistic binary collisions in a plasma. From this theory it is possible to calculate energy loss rates for a test particle in a plasma under relativistic conditions. This work neglects collective effects entirely, although this has been considered in a collisionless contect by some other workers. The present paper is concerned with an attempt to produce a unified relativistic approach to test particle problems in a plasma. In analogy with what has been achieved for non-relativistic plasma, the effects of both binary collisions and collective effects is considered. (author)
