Dynamic testing on a commercial AGR aimed at verifying reactivity feedback modelling

Description
The fuel temperature coefficient of reactivity on Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors is an important safety related parameter which is strongly dependent on fuel burn-up and is subject to considerable uncertainty, which must be allowed for in safety studies. Tests have therefore been carried out on a 500 MW/E AGR at Hinkley Point to verify the predicted temperature feedback and its variation with core burn-up. This paper describes in particular the rod oscillation measurements and their analysis in the frequency domain and compares the results with those obtained from time domain analysis of rod ramp tests. 4 refs
