Vertical axis darrieus windmills for microinvestments in Patagonia Region of Argentina

  • 1. National University of Comahue, Buenos Aires (Argentina). Dept of Electrotecnia

Description

Wind converters used during last decades were either Horizontal Axis Converter (HAC) or Vertical Axis Converters (VAC): Darrieus, Savonius, etc. ). HAC technology, takes advantage of aerodynamic development and the progress of the last years on structural materials and electronics controls, sufficiently tested in gust wind. Thereby the manufacturers allow reaching the maximum speed that the mill can afford in the guaranteed parameter range, minimising the outs of service by gust of wind and consequently the non-supply energy periods.
