Photohemolysis sensitized by proralen, paradoxical dependence on the light intensity

  • 1. Vtoroj Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Meditsinskij Inst., Moscow (USSR)

Description

According to experimental data certain photobiological effects of psoralens, erythema for instance, and suppression of cell growth in a culture depend not only on irradiation dose, but also on light intensity, i.e. for the effects of psoralens the Bunzen-Rosko law (on mutual substitution of irradiation intensity and duration) is not observed. With light intensity increase the effectiveness of psoralen-UV-A (PUVA)-influence in the above-mentioned cases increased. The possibility to observe the law mentioned for PUVA hemolysis was studied using human erythrocytes. Sharp deviations from the law of mutual substitution were revealed. The dependence of PUVA hemolysis on light intensity is detected
