Description

The objective of this paper is to present a new approach to the representation of the management of criticality risk in a nuclear installation. Usually the criticality schemes are used to present how the criticality risk is managed in nominal conditions: the control modes are presented as well as the control means, but the main drawback of this method is that the failures that can occur during the facility life cannot be shown. The aim of this new approach of cartography is to be able to present the nominal conditions in a nuclear installation, but also to present the possible failures and the way they are treated in order to guarantee the safety of the facility. This new kind of criticality schemes has been developed at AREVA FBFC and is applied to the fusion of uranium ingot to get uranium alloy. The different control appear clearly so they can be immediately identified. These schemes are used for the whole facility
