Basalt Waste Isolation Project core storage facility design requirements document
Creators
- 1. Westinghouse Hanford Co., Richland, WA (USA)
Description
This document describes the functional design criteria for a facility which will house rock cores and rock samples as well as Basalt Waste Isolation Project records. The rock cores and other geotechnical samples are classified as temporary data and are obtained from drilling operations related to the establishment of an underground nuclear waste storage facility on the Hanford Site. The cores are used in analyzing and reporting on the physical and chemical properties of rock underlying the Hanford Site. Thus, the resulting paper and other records become part of the required lifetime documentation related to the establishment of a nuclear waste repository. 6 refs
