Excitation processes in collisions of electrons with multicharged ions

Creators

  • 1. Louisiana State Univ., Baton Rouge (USA). Dept. of Physics and Astronomy

Description

The current state of theory and its application to electron impact excitation of atomic ions of charge +3 or greater is reviewed. Results of calculations are compared with the two existing experimental measurements. Essential physics to be considered for all calculations is the role of target state correlations, distortion, exchange, resonances, and intermediate coupling of target states. (Auth.)
